Watch before reading.
What he's saying in the video, I've known for a long time. Christianity was never meant to be a religion full of rules, never meant to be about getting together on Sundays/Fridays and singing songs about God. The church wasn't meant to be a place where perfect people gather, in fact, it was meant for the opposite. 'A hospital where the broken can get healed', but yet, so many churches suffer from being more judgemental than schools, workplaces, etc. What he's saying is true, Jesus was most strongly opposed by people who thought of themselves as spiritual/religious/good. When I read about them in the bible sometimes I laugh at their blindness. But when I look at myself, I see a liar that claims to know Jesus, but doesn't.
The proof is when I try to tell people about what Christianity is, or who Jesus is, what he's done. I always seem to be unable to say something intelligent about the topic. I feel like a fool who is babbling about nonsense. It's even worse when I try to console people who are suffering from a loss, or some terrible event. When I actually get the courage to pray for them, my words seem shallow and empty, like I'm talking to air.
I'm sure this partially stems from the mess of opinions and beliefs in my head. A mix of what I know in the bible, the opinions of people from church, school, family, friends, what I see happening in church, what I'm being taught at school. There's so much swirling around that it's hard to tell what's truth and what's lie, what's right and what's wrong. When I live, it's like I'm fumbling around in the dark, searching for the right direction. What scares me is, if Satan came masquerading as God, I'm not sure if I would be able to realize it's not God.
One thing I have realized though, is that when God created us, He never intended to have religion. We were meant to have some sort of special relationship with Him, and recognize that He alone is God. He didn't even intend to give us laws! If you remember, He only gave Adam and Eve one rule: Don't eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And that was just to test them.
>_< Now I'm starting to ramble, so I will stop here before it turns into pages and pages of random thoughts that happen to spring into my head.
