The Beginning

I hate writing. But unfortunately it's a necessary skill to have, and it helps shape how I express myself. For the past few years, I realized that I have difficulty clearly telling others how I feel, my opinion, what I think. Thus why I am starting this blog. It'll probably end up being a congested mess of what goes on in my head, and a collection of other random things I might decide to post. Basically, this is an attempt to organize my thoughts, my beliefs, etc.

I was part of a heavy debate tonight, it was in the club that I help out with weekly: campus alpha. It's a place where students can meet to have free dinner, watch a video that talks about an aspect of God or the Christian viewpoint, then share with each other what our viewpoints are. It is expected that not everyone is Christian, and not everyone will agree.

The topic for today was sin, what that has to do with us, and Jesus' role in this. We ended up discussing where morality comes from, and how to determine what is right and wrong. A lot of the stuff that was said ended up going over my head, it was too overwhelming for my poor, tired brain. But what I did notice was that the discussion kept going around in circles and got nowhere. It became apparent that without God, there was no definite answer for "What is right? What is wrong? What is sin?" Without God, everything becomes relative, even murder can be justified if our morals are based on what people think is evil!

On a side note, I attempted to steer the discussion's focus back to God by stating what things would be like if God did exist. I think I was a bit forceful though >.< I should've phrased it as a question. Hopefully they come back next week.

This week was week 2 - Why did Jesus die?

  1. If you think you were forceful you might of forced the thought into them. They might think about it for the next week because it's that strong on their mind.
Worried that they won't come back? Pray hard. Week #3-Faith right? Have faith in God to bring them back and with their friends.
